Grand Prairie Park: A Game Changing Community Hub for Lakeville Recreation
Grand Prairie Park in Lakeville, Minnesota, is a significant enhancement to the community, offering a diverse range of recreational amenities. Spanning 68.71 acres, the park features a baseball field, cricket facilities, soccer and lacrosse fields, and ten pickleball courts, catering to various sports enthusiasts. Families can enjoy the playground, splash pad, and picnic facilities, while the biking and walking trails provide opportunities for outdoor exercise. The park also includes a challenge course, modern restrooms, and ample parking with 427 stalls, ensuring convenience for all visitors.
The development of Grand Prairie Park began in 2018, with planning and design efforts incorporating community feedback. Funding was secured through the 2021 Park Bond Referendum, and construction is currently underway. The park's creation was facilitated by Mattamy Homes, LLC, which deeded the land to the city in 2015 as part of the Avonlea development. This collaborative effort reflects Lakeville's commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities and improving residents' quality of life.
